Connections: Canada's Election and the Parliamentary System

In a stunning blow to incumbent Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Canada voted in its first new leader since 2006 on Monday. Liberal Justin Trudeau jumped from third place in the polls just days before the election to become the new prime minister. The Liberals also seized a Parliamentary majority, breaking the record for the highest number of seats gained from one election to the next.

What’s the difference between parliamentary politics and the American system? How much of the world has a parliamentary government? Is it better or worse than the American system? Our panel explores these questions and more. Our guests:
